Cobra Europe Unveils DELTATHERM T3 Premium – A New Benchmark for Heat-Resistant Conveyor Belts

New compound delivers proven performance at continuous temperatures of 240°C and peak temperatures up to 400°C in demanding applications such as coking plants and clinker lines
Cobra Europe has announced the launch of its DELTATHERM T3 Premium heat-resistant conveyor belt compound, setting a new benchmark for performance and reliability in extreme-temperature conveying applications, including coking plants, foundries, and clinker lines.
While many conveyor belts are marketed as “heat resistant,” the industry has long lacked transparent, application-based data demonstrating real performance under actual operating conditions. With T3 Premium, Cobra Europe has developed not only a new compound, but also a comprehensive testing program designed to closely replicate the thermal stresses encountered in real-world installations.
“Our customers don’t just need a datasheet – they need proof,” said Robert Heukelom, President of Cobra Europe. “With DELTATHERM T3 Premium, we validated performance using realistic test scenarios and then confirmed the results in our laboratory. The outcome is a belt that protects
the entire construction – not just the cover – when temperatures spike.”
Engineered for Extreme Temperatures
DELTATHERM T3 Premium is designed for the most demanding heat applications
and features:
  • Resistance to peak temperatures up to 400°C
  • Continuous material temperatures of 240°C, and up to 280°C under defined conditions
  • A specially developed cover rubber with outstanding heat-resistance properties
  • A specially developed core rubber to protect the carcass and maintain adhesion
  • Availability with both EP and PP fabric carcasses
By optimizing both the cover and core rubber compounds, T3 Premium is engineered
to protect the entire belt configuration during continuous operation, thermal cycling,
and short-term temperature peaks. Cobra Europe is also extending this technology to slick belts,
elevator belts, Chevron belts, and Blue belts, all tested using the same rigorous
methodologies.
Beyond Standard Lab Tests: Real-World Thermal Testing
To verify performance, Cobra Europe implemented a series of test procedures that simulate realistic conveyor operating conditions rather than relying solely on static laboratory
measurements.
Key elements of the test program include:
  • Continuous exposure tests at 240°C, simulating normal operation and conveyor stops with hot
  • material remaining on the belt
  • Cyclic heating and cooling tests at 240°C, reflecting real plant load cycles
  • Short-term exposure tests at 300°C, representing brief high-temperature surges
  • Extreme peak tests at 400°C, confirming safety margins under the most demanding conditions
Across all scenarios, T3 Premium maintained adhesion and rubber properties within Cobra Europe’s defined safety limits, confirming the belt’s ability to withstand both steady-state and peak temperatures without critical performance loss.
“The market has talked about heat resistance for years, but we wanted to quantify it in a way that truly
reflects what happens in a coking plant or a clinker line,” added Heukelom. “Our T3 Premium test matrix
was built around the real pain points we observe at customer sites.”
Proven in a Critical Coking Plant Application
DELTATHERM T3 Premium has already demonstrated its performance in a demanding coking plant installation, where it replaced a previous heat-resistant belt.
Application highlights:
  • Plant: Coking plant
  • Belt length: 270 m
  • Belt type: DELTATHERM 1000/4 1400 10+3 T3 Premium
  • Product conveyed: Hot coke from the furnace
Although process specifications indicate that material temperatures at the belt should remain below 250°C, real measurements revealed temperatures exceeding 400°C. Additional risk factors included:
  • Coke ignition temperatures above 600°C
  • Non-automatic water cooling
  • No active temperature control prior to loading
  • No bypass conveyor, making this belt a single critical path in the process
Despite these extreme conditions, DELTATHERM T3 Premium has delivered stable and reliable performance, reinforcing its suitability for high-risk, no-redundancy applications where belt failure is not an option.
Raising the Bar for Heat-Resistant Conveyors
With DELTATHERM T3 Premium, Cobra Europe is offering operators:
  • Documented heat resistance under realistic thermal loads
  • Protection of the cover, core, and carcass for extended service life
  • Confidence in continuous operation at elevated temperatures
  • A proven solution for coking plants, foundries, cement and clinker operations, and other high-temperature environments
Following successful validation and initial field installations, DELTATHERM T3 Premium is now being introduced to the market on a broad commercial scale, supported by Cobra Europe’s international sales organization and regional sales teams – including Cobra America’s sales representatives – to ensure consistent technical support and availability worldwide.
“DELTATHERM T3 Premium is the result of listening closely to our customers and investing in a test program that reflects their operational reality,” said Mike Schmidt, President of Cobra America. “As we roll this solution out across global markets, we believe it sets a new benchmark for safety, reliability, and transparency
in heat-resistant conveyor belt technology.”
